Sail Training

Blue Clipper

(Small Ship) Class B

Tall Ship Blue Clipper is a spacious and luxuriously furnished three masted Topsail Schooner. In the construction of the hull, modern elements are mixed with traditional ones, such as a clipper bow, an elegant yacht stern and a long ballast keel.  The teak deck was built on top of steel plates.  Step on board TS Blue Clipper for sail training with an edge of luxury.  Climb the mast, take the helm, learn to navigate using only the sun and the stars.  On board TS Blue Clipper you get to try your hand at every aspect of sailing this beautiful tall ship.

Tall Ship Blue Clipper was built in 1991 at Feab Marstrandsverken in Sweden. She was owned by the famous brandy company Hennessy. In 1872, the ship Alfred brought the first load of Cognac from France to Shanghai. In 1992, with the same name and painted white, Tall Ship Blue Clipper repeated this historic voyage.

Tall Ship Blue Clipper has extensive accommodation below deck. She can accommodate up to 25 people on board, with 6 twin ensuite cabins, large saloon areas which are beautifully decorated and maintained, a well-equipped galley and plenty of places to sit and relax on deck. Blue Clipper is a very comfortable ship to sail on board.

What shall I bring with me?

Bring practical clothing and lots of ‘layers’. Wearing layers just means that you’re ready for all conditions and you’ll (hopefully) never get cold. Walking boots, welly’s or sailing boots/shoes are recommended. A sun hat and warm hat are helpful, as is sun cream and waterproof trousers and jackets – you never know what the weather will do. Bring a swimming costume/shorts. Don’t forget your sunglasses! Gloves will be needed for sailing and handling ropes. A note book, sketchbook and novel will keep you busy in between watches. A head torch is handy for night and evening watches. There is bedding however an all-season sleeping is a good idea and an extra warm fleece even if it is the summer.

Oh – don’t forget your camera, you’re going to see some amazing sights!
